Construction of an additional production building has begun at "Kirov Compressor". The enterprise is part of the "Kalashnikov" concern and the Agency for Technological Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The new workshop was needed due to a lack of space.

Welding is one of the key stages in compressor manufacturing, and it requires a separate area: the technology requires isolating welding processes from mechanical processing to avoid scale and sparks getting onto machines and finished products. The new workshop will house welding equipment, shot blasting, and a paint and lacquer coating chamber.

Construction is planned to be completed in August, and the workshop will start operating in September. In parallel, the main building is being modernized – new electrical discharge, surface grinding, and vertical milling machining centers are being installed. The company explained that the construction of the workshop will allow mastering the production of components that were previously ordered from other manufacturers.

The launch of its own welding production is a step towards full localization. By the end of 2026, the enterprise's machine park will be fully equipped, and by mid-2027, "Kirov Compressor" will reach its design capacity for producing oil-free compressors entirely from Russian parts. Such compressors are designed for compressing natural gas as part of automotive gas filling stations.
