The Sukhoi Design Bureau has become the sole supplier of operational-tactical combat aircraft for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Aviation engineer Valery Ageev explained the situation in the industry.
According to him, internal competition in this area of fighter production has practically disappeared.
There has been a de facto merger of RSK "MiG" and JSC "Sukhoi Company" with the latter predominating. "Sukhoi" has become the sole supplier of operational-tactical combat aircraft for the Aerospace Forces. And "MiG" pretends to be doing something.
Ageev added that, hypothetically, the office of PAO Sukhoi could be moved to Novosibirsk or Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Factories that produce and repair fighters and attack aircraft are located there.
The most anticipated project from the MiG bureau is the supersonic interceptor MiG-41. The aviation industry allowed for the appearance of a new interceptor in the second half of the decade, but there is no official confirmation yet.
