At the international exhibition "Innoprom-2026", a traction transformer for the new Russian high-speed electric train EVS360, designed for operation at speeds up to 400 km/h, was presented for the first time. The development was carried out by the "Voronezh Transformer" plant, which has already manufactured and delivered the first samples of equipment to the customer.

According to the general director of the enterprise, Igor Ivanov, a year ago the plant faced the task of creating a prototype transformer for a new generation of high-speed trains. Over the past time, specialists have completed the development, manufactured the first products and sent them to the customer, and one of the transformers became an exhibit at the exhibition.
In the spring of 2026, the product successfully passed acceptance tests. Following the inspection of the design documentation, the letter "O" was assigned, and an installation series of 90 transformers was approved.
The new traction transformer is designed to operate with an AC contact network with a voltage of 25 kV and a frequency of 50 Hz. It lowers the voltage to power the traction converter, which ensures the operation of the electric train's asynchronous traction motors.
In addition, the equipment supports regenerative braking. During deceleration, the transformer increases the voltage, allowing electricity to be returned to the contact network. Another function was to power the train's climate systems with a nominal voltage of 3 kV.
The design includes an active part with a magnetic core and windings, main and expansion tanks, as well as a complex of control, protection, signaling and measurement systems. This design is intended for operation as part of a new generation of high-speed rolling stock.
