Tests of the LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft, which is intended to replace the An-2 on local airlines, are continuing at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA). The next stage of the program involves checking the VK-800SM engine and the AV-901 propeller before aircraft certification.
UZGA specialists measured the operating voltage on the elements of the power plant and propeller, and also installed dozens of sensors on the aircraft to collect information during tests.
Particular attention was paid to the VK-800SM, UZGA clarified. Engineers performed strain gauging of the engine pipelines, placing special sensors on them that record structural deformations under load.
Recall that the VK-800SM was long not allowed for flight tests due to unstable operation of components during bench tests. Problems arose with the combustion liner and compressor turbine.
It also required a complete redesign of the fuel equipment, bearings, and heat-resistant alloys for 100% Russian components.
