Soviet "Osa" gets a countermeasure against Hornet drones

The Osa anti-aircraft missile system (ZRK) confidently handles Hornet drones, despite their high speed. The crew operators shared details of hitting aerial targets.

According to them, the time gap from receiving the first signal to launching the missile takes no more than 5 minutes. At the same time, the system is capable of working on three UAVs simultaneously.

The military also received modernized Osa-AKM systems with R-73RMD-2 medium-range air-to-air missiles.

Unlike standard 9M33M3 SAMs with maximum available overloads of 18–20 units and a flight speed of 1.5M, the R-73RMD-2 is ready for overloads up to 40 units, equipped with an MK-80 Mayak infrared seeker, an interceptor thrust vectoring system, and a maximum speed of 2.1–2.2M.
