UAZ is preparing a new frame SUV S9: it will be larger and more expensive than the "Patriot"

UAZ plans to launch production of the new Sollers S9 frame SUV at its industrial site in September. The model will belong to a more expensive segment and will compete with several popular SUVs at once. According to auto expert Alexander Kovalev, the Sollers S9 will compete with the Haval H5, Tank 300, and BAW 212 T01.

The new model will not be a direct competitor to the UAZ "Patriot" — the models belong to different price segments. A potential transition of buyers is only possible towards a more expensive and comfortable car.

According to Kovalev, the S9 does not have clear advantages over all competitors at once: in one case, it may be the design, in another — the level of localization. Among the weaknesses, he notes the lack of reputation, a developed dealer and service network, although these issues, in his opinion, can be quickly resolved.

Earlier, Sollers presented the pre-production version of the Sollers S9. The pilot batch has already been assembled and sent for certification.

The start of industrial production with a full cycle — with body welding and painting — is scheduled for September. The model will be available with gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a classic eight-speed automatic transmission.

The car will receive a spring rear suspension from the Sollers ST9 pickup truck, all-wheel drive, and several operating modes for different road conditions.
