UAZ has confirmed the return of the off-road version of the "Patriot" – the "Expedition" – to its model range. Sales of the updated "Patriot Expedition" are planned to begin in 2027. First, the full testing cycle needs to be completed.
Initially, customers will only be offered the gasoline version. The possibility of releasing a modification with a new diesel engine is still being explored. The company explained that this is due to the layout features of the powertrain. The supplier of the off-road body kit for the model has already been determined.
The expeditionary UAZ "Patriot" will be equipped with modern electronic systems, including ESC stabilization system, CBC cornering brake control system, and a special Off-road mode. The vehicle is currently undergoing a comprehensive testing program, including winter tests for the 2026–2027 season.
Along with this, the "Expedition" version will receive new LED optics at the front and rear, a different steering wheel, a Russian 2.0-liter diesel engine with 136 horsepower, a six-speed manual transmission, and an electromechanical transfer case.
The transfer case will be controlled using a rotary selector. This means the updated "Patriot" can become more modern not only externally but also internally.
