In Russian military unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI) is used for navigation, object recognition, and automatic target acquisition. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Andrey Belousov, at a meeting with military correspondents.
Neural networks must be trained. For this, we are now actively implementing data centers everywhere and creating a "data showcase."
According to him, information from servicemen of all groups of the Russian Armed Forces flows into this "data showcase."
Belousov also added that engineers are integrating AI into air defense (PVO) systems. The first results of this work should be implemented by November 2026, he concluded.
Developers are implementing machine vision (AI technology that allows drones to "see" with cameras and analyze the situation, as well as make decisions without operator intervention) in attack and reconnaissance drones. Advanced FPV drones "Mikrob" with target guidance function, "Orlan-10" with a neural network module for navigation, "Molniya-PVO" with automatic target acquisition are entering the troops. In addition, an anti-aircraft artillery complex ZAK-30 "Tsitadel" for automatic interception of drones has been created.
