Operational life expired: Belarusians learned to restore 9M33M2 missiles for combat vehicles from the Osa SAM system

Specialists of the Belarusian 2566th Plant for the Repair of Radio-Electronic Armaments (OAO "2566 ZRREV") have mastered the repair of 9M33M2(M3) anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAMs) for 9A33BM2 combat vehicles from the Soviet Osa anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). This was reported by the press service of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus.

Belarusian engineers face a difficult task. The munitions "have completely expired their operational life" and the manufacturer no longer produces them, the committee explained.

The main technological difficulty is the non-separable welded body of the instrument compartment, which seriously complicates access to radio-electronic equipment.

OAO "2566 ZRREV" developed a unique complex for cutting the SAM body. After repair, specialists made a hermetic seam on the munition without damaging its sensitive equipment.

In addition to diagnosing and replacing faulty missile blocks, the repair includes updating the paintwork and marking. After assembly, the munition is checked on a test bench. The effectiveness of the updated missiles is confirmed by combat launches, the committee concluded.
