AGR ceased production of Solaris cars at the former Hyundai plant

The production of Solaris cars at the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg has been completely stopped. The AGR group closed the project after exhausting the program for assembling cars from the remaining Hyundai and Kia car kits.

According to sources of the "Vedomosti" publication familiar with the plant's operations, no Solaris car production has been carried out during 2026. Dealerships received cars assembled back in 2025, and no new cars rolled off the assembly line.

During the project's implementation, which started in spring 2024, the enterprise produced slightly more than 70 thousand cars under the Solaris brand. According to market participants' estimates, the remaining warehouse stocks should last until approximately the end of 2026, assuming current demand is maintained.

The Solaris lineup included four models: the HS sedan, the HC crossover, the KRS sedan, and the KRX cross-hatchback. All of them were produced based on Hyundai and Kia car kits remaining after the change of ownership of the enterprise.

According to market sources, after the completion of the project, the plant is preparing for the next stage of work. One of the directions being considered is the organization of production of Chinese-made cars under a Russian brand, but the launch dates for the new program have not yet been disclosed.

The day before, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that AGR announced the imminent launch of the Jeland J8 flagship at its facilities and is preparing the J6 for official taxi operation.
