"LokoTech-Service" Learned to "Treat" GEVO12 Diesel Engines of 2TE116UD Locomotives Without Foreign Parts

LokoTech-Service has begun to widely use domestic components for the maintenance and medium repair of 2TE116UD series locomotives. The transition to the Russian component base has already been implemented in the Ivanovo service locomotive depot, where specialists have successfully tested 40 analogues of imported parts and continue to expand the import substitution program.

The enterprise remains the only service depot in the Central Federal District where medium repair of 2TE116UD locomotives is performed. Its service area includes 57 locomotives of this series. The machines are equipped with GEVO12 diesel engines with a capacity of 4,216 horsepower per section, modern microprocessor control systems, and a large number of electronic sensors. Medium repair is carried out after every 800 thousand kilometers of mileage.

To restore the most complex units, the depot cooperates with Russian enterprises. Turbochargers and microprocessor control systems are serviced by specialized organizations from Penza and Kolomna, and the medium repair of seven types of auxiliary electric machines is performed by the Voronezh Locomotive Repair Plant.

At the same time, the electronic part of the locomotives is being updated. By the end of 2025, specialists restored 30 units of equipment, and modernized A-1 and A-2 boards successfully confirmed their characteristics during trial operation.
