Yolka interceptor drones have proven to be very effective against unmanned aerial vehicles. There were suggestions online that the cost of one unit was around 600-800 thousand, but the real figures are several times lower, explained analysts from the Lost Armour project.
According to them, it is impossible to officially purchase "Yolka" – 100% of orders are shipped to the Russian Ministry of Defence. At the same time, the interceptor is effective against drones such as "Lyutyi".
Hornet aircraft-type drones are a typical and most frequently targeted object.
The project also debunked the popular myth that "Yolka" cannot carry a warhead by default, relying only on kinetic impact.
"Yolka" can carry a warhead. Based on a thorough analysis of combat use, it was concluded that in its kinetic variant, "Yolka" has no less effectiveness than variants with a warhead, and serial models are currently not equipped with a warhead.
Unlike an anti-aircraft missile, "Yolka" hits drones by ramming. The interceptor's mass is 1.3 kg, and the declared range of capture and destruction is up to 3 km.
The complex operates completely autonomously; the crew only needs to launch "Yolka" towards the drone, and the interceptor crashes into the UAV at high speed, bringing it down to the ground.
