Ultrasound machine for field conditions and a rescue bandage: Kalashnikov showed new products for military medicine

Kaolin-based hemostatics are already included in the first-aid kits of security forces

Kalashnikov Concern presented two medical developments at a conference in the Skolkovo technopark: QuikMed hemostatic bandages with kaolin impregnation and a portable ultrasound machine of its own production.

The bandages stop arterial bleeding in 2–3 minutes. Kaolin activates blood clotting factors and concentrates them in the wound without thermal or toxic tissue damage. The effectiveness of the bandages reached 91% — the best indicator on the Russian market. The bandages are already included in the first-aid kits of security forces.

The portable ultrasound machine is designed for military field conditions. It comes with three sensors, allowing assessment of fluid presence in the pulmonary or abdominal cavity of the wounded. The device operates for up to 5 hours, connects wirelessly to any Android mobile device. The machine has been tested in a combat zone, and after documentation, deliveries to security forces are planned.
