A humanoid robot assistant has joined the admissions committee at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The admissions campaign for Russian universities and colleges began on June 20.

The new employee does not yet consult applicants; its task is to assist specialists with physical work. As noted by the university, transferring functions previously performed by humans to the robot required serious preparation from programmers at MIPT's Neurobiomorphic Technologies Laboratory. They developed physical artificial intelligence algorithms.

The movements of the robot assistant are as close as possible to human biomechanics. It is already capable of navigating in space, reading the environment using lidar and computer vision, safely interacting with people, independently using elevators, carrying documents, and passing through turnstiles with an electronic pass. In addition, the android can gesticulate and dance. During its work in the admissions committee, it will continue to learn communication skills with the environment.
