The new Russian airliner MS-21-310 will receive a shortened version, in which the physical dimensions will change specifically in the fuselage. Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of Aviaport agency, explained how the dimensions of the aircraft will change.

According to him, after the "cutting," the stability and controllability characteristics will change. This will necessitate new tests.

Two sections will be "cut out" — before the wing and after the wing. This should minimally affect the centering.

Panteleev clarified that there is economic sense in the modernization, as the MS-21's size is closer to the Airbus A321.

However, there is also demand for A320-sized aircraft, and it needs to be met. So the MS-21-210 certainly has a right to exist.

In May, the technical characteristics of the new aircraft became known. The main feature of the modification is an increased flight range, which is logical with a smaller load.

The aircraft is designed for approximately 140–150 passengers and is intended to occupy the niche of medium-haul airliners, where Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 dominate.
