By early 2031, the Russian aircraft industry will be able to deliver about 50 MC-21 aircraft to customers. This forecast was announced by Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the AVIA.RU portal, commenting on the prospects for serial production of the domestic medium-haul airliner.
According to the expert, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is already gradually increasing aircraft production. By the time the MC-21-310 certification is completed, about 15 serial aircraft will have been assembled at the enterprise, and production capacities will continue to expand.
Gusarov noted that the certified PD-14 engine is already in serial production, so further increases in pace will depend primarily on the development of production and the readiness of airlines to accept new aircraft.
If we assume that customers will take a wait-and-see approach, wanting to see how this aircraft performs with other operators, then I would suggest that aircraft manufacturers will deliver about 50 aircraft by early 2031.
The expert also believes that the enterprise is technically capable of reaching higher production volumes in the future, but this process will occur gradually as serial production expands and demand for the MC-21 grows.
