Currently, the Russian Aerospace Forces have about 50 operational Tu-22M3 bombers in service. This assessment was made by TWZ.

The production of the Tu-22M3 ceased several decades ago, which is why each of them has special value.
The day before, a Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in the Bokhansky district of the Irkutsk region. The preliminary cause of the incident was engine failure; the crew ejected in time.
