The modernization of Kirishi GRES has entered its final stage. The new turbogenerator No. 4 was put on turning gear for the first time after a large-scale reconstruction.

Currently, the speed is only 4 revolutions per minute, but after reaching operating mode, the turbine will spin up to 3000 revolutions per minute.

It is at this stage that specialists check the accuracy of assembly, rotor alignment, and the readiness of all systems for further launch. Even a minimal deviation here is critical.

The next important test will be a trial vacuum pull. After that, power engineers will be able to proceed with further commissioning operations.

Kirishi GRES generates about 2530 MW of power. This makes it the largest thermal power plant in the entire Northwest of Russia.
