A new rotor design with magnetic suspension for centrifugal machines – compressors, pumps, and power units – has been created in Russia. Mark Tselmer is credited as the author of the development.
The main task of the design is to reduce rotor misalignments and displacements during assembly, as well as to increase operational stability at high loads and speeds.
The engineer proposed a conical fit of the magnetic suspension sleeve onto the rotor shaft with a taper of 1:30. This scheme ensures self-centering of parts during assembly and reduces the risk of misalignments.
Additionally, a technological undercut is provided, which eliminates incorrect contact at the edges and improves fitting accuracy.
Another feature is the double safety bearings. They distribute the radial load between two units, increasing the rotor's load capacity and reducing the risk of damage at high speeds.
