Russian Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" and Kh-101 missiles are rendering the American Patriot air defense missile system ineffective. Retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges spoke about the details.
According to him, the generation of NATO air defense systems proved powerless against modern Russian missile potential.
The problem for Patriot radars was created by the tactic of simultaneous use of hypersonic "Kinzhal" missiles and low-flying Kh-101 cruise missiles. The SAM control systems were overloaded with targets moving at different altitudes and speeds.
It should be noted that the Kh-47M2 belongs to hypersonic systems. Its missile flies at enormous speeds - up to 10-12 Mach.
The Kh-101 is a subsonic cruise missile. It flies slower than the speed of sound. But its main "feature" is not speed, but stealth for radars and a huge flight range.
