The Supreme Court annulled the results of the tender for the sale of electrical grid equipment of the Samara Bearing Plant (SPZ), which took place in 2023. OOO "Afina" became the winner of the auction, a company involved in the proceedings concerning the supply of the infamous machine tools for manufacturing parts for the cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov".
PAO "Rosseti Volga" demanded that the tender be declared invalid. Company representatives stated in court that they had planned to participate in the tender but were unable to do so because the lot itself was formed illegally — in addition to electrical grid property, it included other assets of the plant.
Recall that "Afina" was previously at the center of a high-profile scandal surrounding the state defense order. The company sold machine tools to Samara SPZ-4 not as working equipment, but by weight, as ordinary scrap metal.
The scrap was processed using fake passports and used to produce low-quality bearings of foreign origin. These defective components were eventually supplied for the repair of the arresting gear on the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov".
