Component manufacturers cannot compete with China due to the policies of domestic metallurgical enterprises, which do not want to work with customers of small batches of metal. For this reason, bearings in Russia may cost 50% more than in China.
This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of «Pnevmostroymashina» Anatoly Pavlov during his speech at the Russian Agrotechnical Forum (RAF-2023) in Moscow.
According to him, for the production of pistons and connecting rods, «Pnevmostroymashina» needs to purchase 500 kg of metal, but metallurgical plants force the enterprise to make a purchase of 30 tons. Sometimes metallurgists agree to sell a small batch of metal, but twice as expensive as for a standard batch, Pavlov explained.
He expressed doubt that it is currently possible to produce 100% domestic components in Russia. This especially applies to the design of assemblies with rubber products, since there is no rubber of suitable quality in the country, the Chairman of the Board of Directors summed up.
