Iran may receive not only Russian Su-35 fighters, but also modern missile armament for them, which can significantly enhance the capabilities of the national air force. According to Defence Security Asia, this refers to supplies from Russia as part of a program to re-equip Iranian combat aviation.
According to journalists' information, the discussed weapons package includes R-77 air-to-air missiles and Kh-31 missiles, designed to engage air, sea, and radar targets. This combination of weapons will allow the new aircraft to perform a wide range of tasks – from achieving air superiority to striking enemy targets at a significant distance.
The Su-35 is considered one of the most advanced Russian multi-role fighters of the "4++" generation. The aircraft is equipped with a modern radar system, capable of tracking a large number of targets and employing a wide range of high-precision weapons.
Of particular interest is the possible transfer of R-77 missiles. These munitions are designed for beyond-visual-range air combat and can significantly increase the effectiveness of air target interception. Kh-31 missiles, in turn, are presented in several variants, including anti-ship and anti-radar modifications.
