Akkuyu NPP receives the heart of the thermal scheme for the fourth VVER-1200 power unit reactor

The last set of four steam generators manufactured by Atommash plant has been delivered to the station

A set of steam generators intended for the VVER-1200 reactor facility has arrived at the construction site of the fourth power unit of the Akkuyu NPP. The equipment delivery completed another stage of equipping the future power unit with key elements of the nuclear island. The equipment was manufactured by specialists of the Atommash plant, part of Rosatom's machine-building division.

The equipment traveled about 3000 kilometers from the enterprise in Volgodonsk to the Turkish nuclear power plant. The main part of the route was covered by sea. After arriving at the port, the steam generators were reloaded onto self-propelled multi-wheel platforms and transported to a temporary storage site, where they will remain until the start of installation operations.

Steam generators are among the most important elements of a reactor facility. They ensure heat transfer from the first circuit to the second and participate in steam generation for the turbogenerator. Their service life is designed for the entire life cycle of the power unit.

For the four power units of the Akkuyu NPP, enterprises of Rosatom's machine-building complex manufactured over 7 thousand tons of equipment. This volume included four VVER-1200 generation III+ reactor vessels and 16 steam generators. The delivery of the last set for the fourth unit means the completion of manufacturing one of the key types of equipment for the entire station.
