New "Ryvok" tank based on T-80BV with powerful engine built in Russia

"Voevoda Veschaet": "Only the hull remains from the old 80, everything else is new"

A new tank codenamed "Ryvok" based on the Soviet T-80BV combat vehicle has been developed for the Russian military. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Voevoda Veschaet".

According to its information, engineers from Omsk and Kaluga "improved" the previous engine from the T-80BV. It is known that a gas turbine power unit with 1100 hp was installed there. The power of the updated unit is unknown.

The 80, it seems, will now learn to fly. When we talk about the "Ryvok" based on the T-80, only the hull remains from the old 80. Everything else is absolutely new.

The channel's authors clarified that there are still plenty of T-80BV hulls for conversion. Another important difference of the new tank version is its unification with the key components of the T-90M "Proryv".

Military expert Yaroslav Dymchuk suggested that Russia would soon have tanks capable of automatically destroying drones before they hit the vehicle. He called the next stage in the development of armored vehicles full-fledged complexes with radars, sensors, and automatic turrets.
