Russian UAV units have started using domestically produced satellite stations. This was reported by Colonel General Andrey Ivanaev.
Drone operators have been integrated into a single transport network using Russian communication systems.
Flydrone company explained, using Geran drones as an example, that the main feature of this scheme is the absence of a rigid attachment to a single satellite channel. Each UAV can act as a signal repeater, forming a single network directly in the air.
If one of the devices is lost, the signal automatically finds a bypass route, which makes the system resistant to electronic warfare means.
However, Mesh networks also have their drawbacks, noted military observer Vlad Shlepchenko. Their effectiveness sharply decreases if a repeater is installed on the ground, due to terrain or any other obstacles to the signal.
