The Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) has invented a compact high-torque gearmotor, according to a publication in the Rospatent database. The device combines an inductor electric motor with electromagnetic speed reduction and a rolling-element wave reducer. This solution allowed for a reduction in the overall dimensions of the entire unit.
The electric motor was designed with a toothed stator. Toothed poles with elementary teeth on each pole are located on its inner surface. The multiphase concentrated winding consists of individual coils, each of which is placed on one stator pole. The rotor was made as a windingless passive ferromagnetic toothed rotor.
The wave reducer contains a wave generator, a fixed separator with seats for rolling elements, and a rigid wheel. The rotor has a central through-hole. A converter was connected to the stator winding.
The developers achieved a reduction in the overall dimensions of the reducer. The patent has already been obtained. The new drive can be used in robotics, aircraft construction, machine tool building, and other industries where compact and powerful gearmotors are required.
