Aircraft to get a new "nose": "Yakovlev" invents power compartment for equipment

The design ensures reliable attachment of the removable unit inside the fuselage

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and PAO "Yakovlev" (part of OAK) have patented an invention related to the nose compartment of an aircraft fuselage, according to a publication in the Rospatent database. The design is intended for housing an equipment unit and ensures its reliable and rigid attachment.

The nose compartment contains a power frame, fuselage skin, and an aerodynamic fairing, all attached to the power frame. The power frame consists of first and second annular frames, two longitudinal power elements, two walls, two beams, and technological overlays.

The upper part of the compartment is connected by longitudinal beams, and the lower part by walls and transverse beams. Each wall has a vertical flange that is attached to the second frame. Each beam has a horizontal flange connected to the wall. The first frame is equipped with two protrusions with flat platforms – they are in the same plane as the beams.

The second frame has its own wall, to which the beams are attached via two brackets. Technological overlays are placed on each beam flange and on the corresponding platform of the first frame's protrusion.

The developers have achieved reliable and rigid attachment of the removable equipment unit inside the nose section of the aircraft fuselage. The patent has already been obtained. The development can be applied in civil and military aircraft where installation and quick replacement of equipment in the nose compartment are required.
