Experienced pilots prefer multirole aircraft suitable for combat missions and pilot training. The newest two-seat Su-57D is one such aviation platform, stated Sergey Bogdan, chief pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau and Hero of Russia.
Even if no additional tasks are assigned to the Su-57D, the very fact of having a second experienced pilot in the cockpit can already be considered a good addition.
When choosing between a single-seat aircraft with the best combat characteristics or a training aircraft, an aviation leader will prefer the latter, Bogdan added.
OAK began flight tests of the Su-57D prototype on May 19. The fighter was flown by Hero of Russia Bogdan.
The new version of the fifth-generation aircraft can be used to control a manned and unmanned combat group. It can also be used as a platform for training pilots who have not previously flown Sukhoi aircraft.
