2GIS Navigator Made Convenient for Visually Impaired Users

Developers Integrated TalkBack Function into the Application

The 2GIS mapping service on the Android operating system (OS) has integrated the TalkBack function for interface voice-over. This feature will be in demand among visually impaired and partially sighted users, developers reported.

More than 200 thousand people with visual impairments live in Russia. Most of them use smartphones without application adaptation. However, maps and navigators are practically inaccessible to them.

Now it is much easier and more convenient for users with visual impairments to navigate the city: find organizations and build routes and transport.

The TalkBack function can be activated in the phone settings under the "Accessibility" section.

A similar feature was previously introduced on iPhone. iOS integrated the VoiceOver interface voice-over function. Thanks to it, users can interact with the application using gestures and voice commands.
