A new generation logging truck on a BAZ chassis with independent suspension on all wheels will be handed over to a Yugra timber industry holding at the COMvex exhibition. This is one of the first Russian trucks of this class, designed for operation in harsh off-road conditions. After the exhibition, the vehicle will drive to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, where it will be used for logging, the COMvex press service told "Pervy Tekhnichesky".
The new logging truck was developed for hard-to-reach areas and harsh climates. The vehicle's ground clearance is 400 millimeters. Independent spring suspension on all wheels and reducers integrated into the frame maintain traction on difficult terrain, increase stability, and reduce the risk of damage to components when driving over deep ruts, stones, stumps, and seasonal off-road conditions.
The timber industry holding notes that the industry is in dire need of domestic equipment capable of operating on complex forest routes. BAZ is considered a promising alternative to European vehicles that have left the Russian market. The ability to use affordable and passable equipment on forest plots and public roads directly affects the cost of logging.
The project was implemented jointly with the company "V-Trailer". The cargo platform is designed for transporting timber up to 6 meters long. The logging truck is equipped with a hydraulic manipulator with a boom outreach of 10.4 meters and a reinforced grapple. The integrated console allows the hydraulic manipulator, when folded, not to exceed the permissible dimensions – this ensures free movement on public roads. The exhibition will also showcase a transport axle with elements of independent spring suspension – a unique engineering development that provides high off-road characteristics.
