Business lounges at Russian railway stations can now be accessed without a QR code. RZD has started using a biometric access system: passengers simply need to select the desired item on the terminal and look into the camera. After that, the device will automatically check if the person has the right to enter the premium waiting lounge. The launch of the service was announced by the press service of "Russian Railways".
The purpose of the new system is to simplify entry to the business lounge. Passengers do not need to show a QR code or manually search for access confirmation. The terminal recognizes the person by biometrics and confirms passage automatically.
To use the service, biometric data must be registered in advance. This can be done through the "Gosuslugi Biometriya" application or at a bank branch.
After registration, you will need to activate biometrics in your Mir Pass loyalty program personal account. Currently, this access works at Kazansky railway station in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod railway station.
In June 2026, the system is planned to be connected in several more business lounges: at the railway stations of Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Ivanovo, at Paveletsky railway station in Moscow and Moskovsky railway station in St. Petersburg.
