Belarusian Enterprise Upgrades Cuban S-125s to Pechora-2BM Level

The complex received modern guidance and target tracking systems

The Belarusian OAO "ALEVKURP" has modernized Soviet S-125 anti-aircraft missile systems for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba to the S-125-2BM "Pechora-2BM" level. The upgraded systems were publicly showcased for the first time during military exercises in Cuba.

In the footage, one of the main features of the Cuban version of the complex can be seen – the launcher, mounted on a T-55 tank chassis. Such modernization is considered a local Cuban development and is intended to increase the mobility and survivability of the complex.

Unlike the basic Soviet S-125, developed back in the 1960s, the "Pechora-2BM" version has undergone deep modernization. The complex is equipped with a digital component base, modern guidance and target tracking systems, and improved protection against interference.

The deployment and redeployment speed of the system is also increased, and the modernization itself allows for more effective combat not only against aircraft and helicopters, but also against certain types of high-precision weapons, low-flying and unmanned targets.
