At Kirishskaya GRES, the installation of the drum of power boiler No. 2 was completed – a key element of the steam generator weighing 94.5 tons and 19 meters long. The work was performed by specialists from PAO "OGK-2".
The equipment was delivered to the machine hall on a self-propelled trolley with an intelligent control system. Then, using two overhead cranes, the load was lifted to a height of 35 meters, rotated in the air, and moved over the operating boiler units.
Due to the size of the part, engineers had to temporarily dismantle some metal and concrete structures to ensure safe passage.
Sergey Mironov, Chief Engineer of Kirishskaya GRES, noted that the operation was carried out with pinpoint accuracy thanks to the coordinated work of crane operators and installers. According to him, the team took into account the experience of similar work in 2022, which made it possible to minimize the relocation time and avoid downtime.
The installation of the drum is an important stage in the modernization of the station's steam circuit. After the boiler assembly is completed, the CHP part of Kirishskaya GRES will increase the reliability of heat supply to the Leningrad region and increase electricity generation.
