The Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57 made a flight with a universal reconnaissance and targeting suspended pod. This was reported by analysts of the Telegram channel "Osvedomitel".
This could be the 101KS-N optoelectronic complex. It is designed for reconnaissance, targeting, and engaging ground and naval targets.
Such a suspended system expands the capabilities of multi-role fighters and increases their versatility.
It was against this background that the Su-34, with its integrated optical system "Platan", became the main workhorse, capable of relatively adequately monitoring land and water surfaces and guiding aerial bombs and missiles with laser seekers.
At the same time, the Su-57 already has a powerful built-in nose optoelectronic station 101KS-V, but it is mainly directed upwards and forwards to search for enemy aircraft in air combat.
The 101KS-N suspended pod is mounted under the fighter's belly and has a movable optical head that freely rotates and looks down and back.
