Rostec helicopters account for one third of China's civil transport aviation market. This was stated by Viktor Kladov, Director for International Cooperation at the state corporation, on the sidelines of the X Russian-Chinese EXPO in Harbin.
According to him, the Chinese produce good helicopters, but not as heavy as the Russian ones.
That is, in terms of power, payload, and ceiling, there are no equals to ours yet.
This year, Rostec brought a modernized Ka-32 helicopter to the exhibition in Harbin. Several dozen of these machines are already operated by the fire service and police in Shanghai, Kladov noted.
The exhibition also features the "workhorse" – the Mi-171 (a modification of the Mi-17). This helicopter has become the most popular in China, with over 400 units, added the Rostec top manager.
I told Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Zhang Guoqing that both machines have undergone deep modernization, and they are equipped with new VK-2500 engines.
The power units are manufactured by JSC "ODK-Klimov" (St. Petersburg). These are more powerful and reliable engines than before, Kladov concluded.
