Russia is starting work on selecting pilot sites for the construction of new generation coal-fired power plants. The decision was made by the State Council of the Russian Federation Commission for the "Energy" direction, headed by the Head of Yakutia, Aysen Nikolaev.
The Commission has moved to practical development of technologies for promising coal generation. The main goal is not just to discuss ideas, but to launch real projects: to identify specific sites for experimental power units, to form a clear order for domestic machine builders, and to establish funding for research and development.
Aysen Nikolaev emphasized that the modernization of coal energy is important not only for the industry but also for the country's technological sovereignty. Russia already has scientific groundwork and production competencies in this area. Now it is important to translate them into working solutions that will strengthen industry and give impetus to regional development.
The meeting also considered the possibility of including developments in coal generation in the national project "New Nuclear and Energy Technologies". Special attention was paid to the issue of providing production with high-temperature corrosion-resistant materials – without them, the creation of modern new generation coal units is impossible.
