Geran-2 kamikaze drone for the first time received an air-to-air missile

The drone's airframe was adapted for the R-60M munition for the MiG-31

Russian military personnel have for the first time begun using Geran-2 drones with the R-60M air-to-air missile. This was reported by analyst Evgeny Damantsev.

According to him, the drone's airframe was modernized to accommodate the missile in a partially recessed mount. Such a solution reduces aerodynamic drag and allows for maintaining flight range and speed.

The R-60M is a short-range guided missile with an infrared homing head. The modernized version received a more sensitive "Komar-M" guidance system, capable of more effectively tracking maneuvering targets.

Earlier, the official characteristics of the Geran-2 became known. The drone accelerates to 190 km/h and flies to a maximum range of up to 1800 km.
