The new Russian attack drone "Geran-5" is capable of accelerating to 600 km/h, although initially this figure was estimated at 350 km/h. Military journalist Evgeny Poddubny provided the characteristics.
The practical ceiling of the "Geran-5" turned out to be at the level of 6000 m — which makes it unattainable for man-portable air-defense systems.
In terms of its performance characteristics and aerodynamic body shape, the new drone approaches a tactical cruise missile.
It is also interesting that the length of the launcher for the "Geran-5" is 80 m. For comparison, the "younger" "Geran-2" were launched directly from the roof of pickup trucks.
Specialized resources stated that the drone has a flight range of up to 1000 km and a warhead weighing about 90 kg.
