AGR Holding has unveiled the philosophy and technical outline of its new premium brand, Esteo. According to "Avtonovosti dnya", the name is derived from the Latin words est ("to exist") and eo ("path"). The lineup will include SUVs from SUV-D to SUV-F segments, where Audi Q5, BMW X7, and Mercedes-Benz GLS compete. Production will be located at modernized factories of technological partners with high automation and quality control according to international standards.
Esteo models will be produced with both traditional internal combustion engines and NEV (New Energy Vehicle) versions – meaning hybrids and pure electric vehicles. Onboard electronics will feature an ADAS intelligent driving assistance system, and human-machine interfaces are promised to anticipate owner actions. The creators emphasize that the focus is not on excessive sensor technology, but on the quality of system operation: from suspension smoothness to the tactile feedback of digital interfaces.
Esteo is the fourth joint project between AGR and Defetoo, following Tenet, Tenet Plus, and Jeland. Since the former Mercedes-Benz plant in Yesipovo has already been linked to Exeed production, the industry is discussing the possibility that models from this Chinese premium brand will form the basis of the new Russian portfolio. If so, Esteo will be the first precedent where a Chinese premium architecture receives localization under its own Russian name with a claim to international quality standards.
