"Electromagnetic Cannon" Installed on NRTK "Courier" Now Used for Demining

The ground robotic platform is controlled remotely

Operators of the ground robotic technical complex (NRTK) "Courier" have started using the so-called "electromagnetic cannon" for demining operations. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

Military personnel, using the NRTK with a device for creating a powerful electromagnetic field, perform tasks for demining urban areas and road sections.

The cannon creates a powerful electromagnetic pulse, which triggers the magnetic sensors of explosive objects. The device is particularly effective against landmines and anti-personnel mines with magnetic target sensors, the agency added.

After the NRTK "Courier" with the "electromagnetic cannon" passes, sappers perform a control sweep using mine detectors, the Russian Ministry of Defence concluded.
