Rosatom Implements New Radiation Control Solutions at Rooppur NPP

22 automation subsystems will ensure control of the first power unit from startup to commercial operation

The first power unit of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh has been equipped with an automated control and radiation monitoring system. The supply and setup of the equipment were carried out by Rosatom Automated Control Systems (RASU).

For the plant, 22 subsystems of automated process control systems and automated radiation monitoring were prepared. They are responsible for monitoring equipment operation, controlling technological processes, and supplying power to the grid. The systems will be used both during the commissioning of the power unit and during the subsequent operation of the plant.

RASU reported that the equipment for the first unit has already been fully delivered and configured at the construction site. The company also noted that for the first time, a compact bench-top design for automated radiation monitoring units was used in the project.

Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" reported that Bangladesh expects to commission the second power unit of the Rooppur NPP in 2027. This was announced by the country's Minister of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, during the physical launch ceremony of the first unit of the plant.
