Belarusian T-72B2s protected from kamikaze drones, but "mangals" forgotten

Belarusian T-72B2 tanks received additional protection against drones during modernization. The combat vehicles were equipped with a rubber-fabric protective screen in the lower frontal part of the hull.

The military themselves call it an "apron"; it complements the dynamic protection system. On the initial footage of the tanks, this protection was not present.

Elements of dynamic protection were also placed on the tank, which enhance protection against kamikaze drones and anti-tank missiles.

Dynamic protection covered most of the hull and turret, which reduces the vehicle's vulnerability to attacks from above and from the front. However, metal "mangals" are still not visible on the tanks.

The first batch of modernized vehicles was handed over to the Belarusian military at the end of April. Military journalist Kirill Fyodorov clarified that the modernization of these specific tanks was carried out by engineers and designers from one of the enterprises of the military-industrial committee.

This is the first batch of T-72BM2 tanks from a tank battalion of 30 vehicles sent for modernization in September 2024.
