Restrictions are introduced selectively in different regions of the country if there is an aerial threat. Disconnecting mobile internet allows to "reduce the accuracy of drone targeting," the ministry explained.

The day before, major Russian operators warned their subscribers in Moscow and the Moscow region about temporary restrictions on mobile internet from May 5 to May 9. Disruptions began on Tuesday night. According to the Detector404 service, Muscovites complained that they could not use messengers or even access websites from "whitelists."
