Users of mobile internet in Russia have increasingly encountered situations where familiar websites and services suddenly do not open. The connection is available, but pages simply do not load.
As it turns out, this may be due to new protection features that operators are implementing in their networks. We are talking about services like "internet protection," which are aimed at combating phishing and fraudulent websites.
According to users, in some cases, such functions can be activated automatically – without a separate request from the subscriber. After this, some traffic begins to pass through security filters.
The system checks website addresses and can restrict access if it considers them potentially dangerous. Amid the growth of cyber threats, operators are trying to protect customers in this way.
However, in practice, filters sometimes work too broadly. Users note that even ordinary services – from cloud storage to work platforms – can fall under restrictions.
Because of this, it feels like the internet has "disappeared," although the connection actually remains active. At the same time, it is not always immediately clear that the reason is precisely the operation of protective mechanisms.
Experts note that such measures are aimed at increasing security, but transparency is important: users should understand what functions are enabled for them and how they can be managed.
It is expected that over time, such systems will be refined to more accurately filter threats and not affect ordinary services.
