The use of fuel additives may be extended in Russia to increase gasoline and diesel production

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak: The mechanism will maintain fuel availability for drivers, the measure has proven effective

Russia may extend permission to use fuel additives. This refers to a measure that was already in effect until May 1 and allowed for increased fuel production through the use of special additives and chemical elements. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced the possible extension on the sidelines of the Caucasus Investment Forum.

The government had previously allowed the use of fuel additives and various chemical elements to increase the supply of gasoline and diesel in Russia.

Kommersant newspaper, citing Novak's appeal, wrote that the measure should allow the use of monomethylaniline (MMA). This additive increases the octane number of gasoline.

According to the publication, such a decision allows for an increase in the production of high-octane motor fuels and an additional supply of about 50 thousand tons of gasoline per month to the domestic market.
