Cameras see everything: Moscow now records 52 types of traffic violations

Fewer accidents, more precise control

In Moscow, road cameras now record 52 different types of violations – from the most obvious to those more complex to detect. Accidents are noticeably decreasing, and road fatalities are falling. Details were revealed by Alexander Bykov, head of the State Traffic Inspectorate Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow.

A vast network of cameras operates on the capital's roads. A total of 3,212 photo and video recording complexes are in use, of which 3,018 are stationary, 57 are mobile, and 137 are portable.

The effect is already noticeable. Since the beginning of the year, the number of accidents in Moscow has decreased by 16%, and the number of fatalities has dropped by 40%.

According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, 1,430 road accidents were registered in the megacity, in which 36 people died and another 1,708 were injured.
