Robots instead of couriers are getting closer to Moscow roads - State Traffic Inspectorate calculates risks

A regulatory framework is being prepared for new road users

The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate is calculating risks in engineering arrangements for the movement of robot couriers on the metropolis's roads. The necessary regulatory and legal framework is already being developed at the federal level. This was announced by the head of the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate, Alexander Bykov.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that there are already separate regulatory documents that set the initial direction for the operation of such technical means.

However, Moscow is assessing what changes are needed in the infrastructure so that robot couriers can safely move around the capital's roads. The State Traffic Inspectorate, for its part, is trying to take into account all possible risks and is actively participating in this work.

The task is to ensure that robots can move safely around the city and do not pose a threat to people.

The head of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Oleg Baranov, previously reported that such robots had already been shown to the police. The devices can replace couriers, move at a speed of 3–5 km/h, and comply with traffic rules.
