Foreign sources reported on a new Russian cruise missile, the S-71K "Kover," which has begun to be used with fifth-generation Su-57 fighters. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Voenny Obozrevatel".
The munition is designed using radar cross-section reduction technologies. The triangular-section body is made of fiberglass with reinforcement, and the internal elements are made of aluminum alloys.
The warhead used is an OFAB-250 high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb, located in the missile's nose power section. Movement is provided by a compact turbojet engine.
Thanks to three fuel tanks – one main and two side ones – the flight range can reach 300 km.
Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev clarified that the S-71K "Kover" drone is equipped with inertial navigation and optoelectronic systems, as well as GLONASS correction modules. The fighter carries it on external hardpoints.
