AvtoVAZ to perform 15,000 conveyor modernization operations during May shutdown: budget exceeds 530 million rubles

Azimut and Niva will receive updated tooling in welding and painting

AvtoVAZ is using its two-week corporate vacation to re-equip its facilities. As reported by the company's press service, from May 1 to May 13, the plant will carry out over 15,000 works with a total capacity of 110,000 man-days, allocating more than 530 million rubles for these purposes.

The main volume is concentrated in engine production: here, new machining centers designed for the production of 1.6 and 1.8-liter engines will be commissioned. Simultaneously, equipment in the welding, painting, and car assembly shops will be updated — the re-equipment will affect both the Lada Azimut crossover line and Niva assembly.

The entire complex of measures is planned to be completed by May 18, and from May 14, chains not involved in modernization and stopped before the holidays will be gradually launched. Full wages are retained for personnel during the downtime.

In fact, the plant is turning a forced pause into a technological breakthrough: updated tooling and the launch of new engines are preparing the conveyor for the production of promising models. For AvtoVAZ, competing in the affordable crossover segment with Chinese brands, the speed of launching its own solutions becomes a critical factor.
